Our church became a Church of the Brethren in 1915 under the name, "Shepherd Church of the Brethren." We had 18 original charter members, of whom some of our current congregation are related to.
On June 1, 1997 the congregation changed the name of the church to New Life Christian Fellowship. The name change was inspired from the relationships God had with His people in the Bible. Many times as men and women encountered the Living God, He changed their lives immensely. He also changed their names, like Abram to Abraham and Jacob to Israel. Even in the New Testament, Simon was changed to Peter and Saul to Paul. We felt that we had seen new people come into our church and others were receiving new life in Christ. Hence, the name change to New Life Christian Fellowship.
Jesus has been faithful to this church for over 90 years! We have seen some exciting changes in the last few years with a growing congregation, a campus ministry at Central Michigan University, a thriving church plant in Saginaw, MI, and six licensed ministers who are serving abroad, receiving training, or directly involved in the ministry here at New Life. We firmly believe in our mission statement and strive to glorify God and serve our church and community. Come and grow with us!
